I had my first individual violin lesson yesterday, and it went really well. The teacher was really nice, and had a lot of good advice. She has a lot to say about the basics, which I never really got to at the Old Town School.
Because of this, I barely played anything, and spent most of the time without even holding the violin. She showed me how she was trained to hold the bow:

And how to position my left hand, and we did a bunch of finger excercises. I feel like I've been playing the violin for a year and a half, so I'm not at all impatient about "getting to the good stuff". I can play songs that I can recognize, now I just want to learn how to do it well. If that means practicing finger excercises for a while, I'm totally fine with that. (:
