I designed the lights for a play, which necessitated racing to the theatre from work and staying there until midnight every night. The very instant that this play finished (technically, the first night of previews) my mother and grandmother came to visit. This was a wonderful visit*, but it wasn't especially relaxing. Throughout this entire process, I had begun dating Lauren, which is also wonderful! But also, so far, not exactly relaxing, as such. Then on Monday I essentially spent the entire day drinking and sitting out in the sun. We even played croquet once! Actually, that was pretty relaxing, I must say.
And this was all extremely lovely, but last night I went to bed at 10:00pm, then I woke up at 7:00am, went to the gym, ran on the treadmill and watched Doctor Who. And it feels sooo nice.
*On Thursday we wnt to the first preview of my play, on Friday we went to the Art Institute, and then we went to see Les Mis (in the round! Excellant! Terrible Enjolras! Young Cosette and Adult Eponine looked identical? Marius insisted on pronouncing Eponine's full name, even when it didn't fit the meter and sounded ridiculous? God on high literally stopped the show for almost a full minute ovation). On Saturday I hosted the Rotating Brunch, and set a new Length Record (folks started arriving at 10:30, the last guest left just before midnight) and then on Sunday we saw Don Giovani. Whew!
